Hiring a Divorce Attorney

Hiring a Divorce Attorney

You’ve found our website and browsed the content. You’ve read some of the articles on divorce or child custody and maybe even used our free child support calculator, and now you are ready to come in for a consultation but maybe you are a little nervous.

What will it be like visiting a divorce lawyer for the first time?

Step 1: call and schedule a consultation. We charge $250.00 for consultations and we don’t limit your time with us to 20 minutes like some firms do. We will talk with you as long as it takes to understand your situation and provide you with options going forward.

Step 2: Arrive at your appointment about 10 minutes early so that you can fill out some paperwork. We will run a conflicts check, which basically means we are checking our system to make sure that we haven’t already been retained by your spouse.

Step 3: Meet with one of our attorneys. During the consultation, we will ask a lot of questions to determine what needs to be done for you. We will listen to you. We will provide you with options going forward.

Step 4: You will leave our office with “homework”. This is paperwork we need to move forward on your case if you decide to retain us. You don’t have to decide while you are in for the consultation. We will also provide you with our contract for services. When you decide to retain us, bring your “homework” back to the office with your signed contract and your payment for our services.

Step 5: We get started on your case. We can’t work on your case until you have retained us to represent you. This doesn’t happen until you have signed you contract with us.

From your first visit until your last we want you to know you are important to us.

A Friendly Voice….

At our office, you can expect that each time you call you will be greeted by a friendly voice who will try to answer your questions and if she can’t she will get an answer from your attorney as soon as possible and call you back. Paralegals aren’t allowed to answer legal questions so if she says she can’t answer your question that is likely the reason.

Comfortable Space….

When you come in for appointments, we promise to try our best to make you comfortable. We do this by providing the little things like offering you fresh made cup of coffee or hot chocolate for the little ones to the bigger things like making sure you aren’t waiting in the lobby for more than 15 minutes.

Available Attorneys….

You will get your attorneys direct email address. If you have questions about your case, email is the fastest way to get an answer. Our attorneys are frequently in court and tend to return phone calls early in the morning or in the late afternoon. They have mobile access to email and can sometimes respond to emails while at the courthouse. We try to return phone calls and emails within 24 hours.

We take your privacy seriously. Our attorneys and our staff will keep the details of your case to themselves. We use secure internet and web portals to minimize any chance of your information becoming public.
